Black History Month Author Visit w/ Jerry Craft (Grades 4-5)

On Thursday, February 25th, Students in grades 4 and 5 will hear from Jerry Craft, New York Times bestselling and Newbery Medal winning author ofthe graphic novel, New Kid. His second graphic novel, Class Act, was published in October 2020 and will be distributed to each student prior to the event. Craft is also the creator of Mama’s Boyz, an award-winning comic strip which won the African American Literary Award five times. He is a cofounder of the Schomburg Center’s Annual Black Comic Book Festival. He received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts.

The Social Dilemma – Let’s Keep Talking!
After a successful town-wide viewing and Zoom discussion of the documentary film, The Social Dilemma, join us as we keep the dialogue going for our Ox Ridge community. This discussion will be led by OK2DELAY co-founders and Ox Ridge moms, Marty Hendrickson and Jacqueline Telgheder, and will focus more specifically on topics that are most relevant to our elementary age students. Parent Zoom: Remote Learning Strategies for Success

Please join the Ox Ridge PTO for a Zoom presentation addressing Remote Learning Strategies for Success on February, 3, 2021 from 11:00am-12:00pm. Our Ox Ridge School Psychologists and District Behavior Analyst will share strategies for learning from home. The discussion will focus on both proactive and reactive strategies to help your child while working remotely. Lisa Bhagirathy, Physical Therapist, will also be presenting ways to incorporate gross motor skills development into everyday activities.

Special Education Zoom

Please join the Ox Ridge PTO for a Special Education Zoom presentation on Thursday, January 28, 2021 @7:30-8:30 pm. Christine Pochetti, Special Education and Student Services Facilitator, will be giving a presentation on How to Read an Individual Education Plan (IEP). Ms. Pochetti will break down different sections of the IEP and review where parents can find pertinent information regarding student programs. The meeting will be open to parents starting at 7:20pm. If you are unable to attend the live meeting, a recording will be posted to the Ox Ridge Special Education webpage. This presentation may be most helpful to parents who have a child receiving special education services. However, all parents are welcome!
