The Kids Care Club is the community service arm of the PTO. We work with kids in all grades to teach them about community outreach and volunteering. The meetings will be held in person one Friday each month, from 8:15-9am (schedule is shown below). Please note, this will be a drop-off meeting. We would love to have kids from every grade in the club, even if they have not participated before!

Join Dr. Forshaw and friends from the Ox Ridge PTO on the 13th to continue to deepen your personal understanding of how to support the development of your child’s emotional intelligence and to better understand our approach at Ox Ridge in this critical work.
Dr. Forshaw will provide an overview of how we are building on existing practices to better support student Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). A few years back, we began working as a faculty and with families to understand the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence’s framework for teaching emotional intelligence, RULER. You might have joined or heard of a book club centered on Dr. Marc Bracket’s “Permission to Feel”, or joined PTO meetings last year to understand how the RULER framework is being implemented with faculty and staff at Ox Ridge.
We will also discuss the upcoming “Devereux Student Strengths Assessment-Mini” (DESSA) being deployed across the district and how we plan to use this tool to better individualize opportunities for student SEL growth over the year.
Please join us on Tuesday, October 18th at 7:30 PM at Louie’s Italian Restaurant (10 Center Street) for an evening of cocktails and conversation. This event, hosted by the Ox Ridge Special Education Committee, is an opportunity for parents of children with IEPs or 504s, or who are interested in our resources, to connect in a casual and fun setting.
We will gather on the patio and appetizers will be provided (drinks purchased separately). No sign up is required, but if you plan to attend or have questions, please contact your Special Education Representatives: Anne Cotton, Dayna Checketts, and Kira Saunders.

Each session lasts 15-20 minutes; Ms. Morneau will take multiple pictures of your family and you will receive options to purchase digital proofs and/or prints.

First Selectman Declares State of Emergency for the Town of Darien Business and Public Facilities/Programs Closure Notice
At 2:00pm today, in response to and in coordination with federal, state and local agencies, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson has issued a Town of Darien State of Emergency. This action has been taken to augment the Town’s response efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 and to underscore to the Darien community the seriousness of the virus crisis.
Beginning at 8:00pm on Monday, March 16, Governor Lamont, in a coordinated action with the governors of New York and New Jersey, has ordered the temporary closure of all bars, restaurants, gyms, fitness centers and similar public exercise studios, and movie theatres. Restaurants and bars that serve food will be temporarily required to move to takeout and delivery service only. Bars that do not serve food will be temporarily required to close. All other local businesses, including grocery stores and pharmacies remain open at this time. Staff and customers should practice social distancing while shopping and working. Gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited.
These measures are being taken to help ensure the health and safety of our residents through social distancing and to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our region.
Effective, Tuesday March 17, all public facilities including park and beach playgrounds, school playgrounds, Weed Beach Paddle Hut, restrooms, water fountains and train station buildings will be closed. All Parks & Recreation winter programs are canceled. Tennis and paddle courts remain open for public use. Spring programming will be evaluated as more information about virus conditions becomes available. Check the Town of Darien Parks & Recreation web page at www.darienct.gov or call (203)656- 7325 for program and facility updates.
Darien and Noroton Heights Rail Station buildings will be closed to the public until further notice. New Haven Line service is still operational. Ticket machines, parking machines and elevators remain operational. See the MTA Metro North website (www.web.mta.info) for train schedule information.
Darien Town Hall remains fully operational during normal business hours through limited access and by appointment only. All non-essential municipal meetings are canceled until further notice. Please refer to the Town of Darien website (www.darienct.gov) for online services.
